How your published portfolio shows up in Google and AI search

What Yara lists for search engines, what stays private, and how to check your portfolio is listed

Written by Abdullah Atif

When you publish a portfolio on Yara, search engines and AI search tools can find it. Yara lists your published portfolio for them automatically and keeps your private pages, like your chats and applications, out of search. You don't need to set anything up.

What gets listed

  • Your published portfolio, at your Yara address (yourname.yara.so) or at your custom domain if you connected one.

  • Yara's public pages, such as the home page, Pricing, About, the Yara Network page and the blog.

What stays private

Search engines and AI crawlers are told not to visit the private parts of Yara. That includes your chats, applications, saved roles, Library, share links, analytics, settings, editing pages and sign-in pages.

Check that your portfolio is listed

  1. Publish your portfolio. In the portfolio editor, click Publish.

  2. Open yara.so/sitemap.xml in your browser. This is the list Yara gives to search engines.

  3. Press Cmd+F (Mac) or Ctrl+F (Windows) and search for your portfolio address, for example yourname.yara.so. Each portfolio has its own entry with the date it last changed.

See what is kept out of search

  1. Open yara.so/robots.txt in your browser.

  2. Each Disallow line is a part of Yara that search engines and AI crawlers are asked to skip. The last line points them to the sitemap.

How AI search tools read your profile

Yara welcomes AI search tools such as ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity on your public pages, and gives them clean versions to read:

  • yara.so/yourusername/llms.txt: a plain-text summary of you, your location, your profile link, your work experience and your education.

  • yara.so/yourusername/resume.json: your resume in the standard JSON Resume format.

  • yara.so/llms.txt: a guide to Yara itself, so AI tools describe it correctly.

Your portfolio address (yourname.yara.so, or your own domain) also has its own sitemap.xml and robots.txt, so search engines find every page of it. These all update on their own when you edit and publish. See Your public profile and project pages.

How long it takes

Search engines decide when to visit. A newly published portfolio can take from a few days to a few weeks to show up in Google results. If you use a custom domain and want to watch its progress, you can add the domain to Google Search Console.

Still not showing up?

  • Make sure the portfolio is published, not just saved as a draft.

  • Check that your portfolio address opens when you are signed out.

  • If your portfolio is published but is missing from the sitemap, contact us from the Support button in the Yara sidebar.
