Fit your resume on one page

Ask Yara to fit a long resume on one page, check it in the editor, and download it.

Written by Abdullah Atif

If your resume runs onto a second page, Yara can fit it on one page for you. Yara measures the real PDF, then makes the smallest change to spacing, margins and text size that fits. Your template stays the same, and you can undo the change at any time.

Fit your resume on one page

  1. Open your resume in chat. Start a chat and ask Yara to Open my resume, or open it from your Library. The resume opens in the editor on the right. Dashed lines and page numbers in the bottom corner show where each page ends.

  2. Ask Yara to fit it. Type Fit my resume on one page. and send it.

  3. Check the result. In a few seconds Yara replies that your resume now fits on one page and lists what changed, such as line height, the gaps between entries and sections, page margins and text size. The editor updates right away and shows a single page.

  4. Download it. Click the download button at the top right of the editor and choose PDF or Word (.docx). The PDF has the same single page you see in the editor.

Undo or fine-tune the fit

  • To go back, click the undo arrow in the editor toolbar, or ask Yara to undo the change.

  • Need two pages instead? Ask, for example "Fit my resume on two pages". Yara can fit a resume to one, two, three or four pages.

Good to know

  • Yara tries spacing and text size first, and keeps text readable. If that is not enough, Yara tells you and shortens the longest parts of your content instead, then fits it again. You see every change and can undo it.

  • Fitting keeps the template your resume uses. It does not switch you to a different design.

  • The page count in the editor matches the PDF you download, so what you see is what recruiters get.
